I've been having problems with vpu recovers (ati's ability to recover from a crash). They come at miscellaneous times, and they don't stop me from playing, but are rather really bothersome. I've tried different config's on the game's end, and I can't seem to narrow it down.
Rig:
WinXP Pro SP2
Gigabyte K8NS Rev. 1
2.1 Ghz Athlon 64 3000+
2x512 OCZ DDR400
ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb AGP 8x
Creative Audigy 2 ZS Gamer
On-board Realtek (used ONLY for the mic during vent/ts)
30Gb OS HD | 200Gb Programs/Games HD
In-case fans, as well as an external fan pointed @ an open side.
ALL drivers are up to date. Cpu, nforce3 250.. everything.
The game is generally launched through xfire using these params:
+set fs_game tcetest +set com_hunkMegs 256 +set com_zoneMegs 128 +set com_soundMegs 32 -win
I don't know if it's ATI's crappy implementation of OpenGL or what, but sending in crash logs doesn't work because their
SmartSave@ati.com address no longer works, and I don't have anything that'll allow me to decode all the garbled mess of junk in the files. =|
I can also pass all tests using OpenGL Extension Viewer.
DX is also up to date, just in case.
And for your viewing pleasure, my configs:
I've tried it from everything on/medium/high to off/low.
