HIT BOXES needs to improve,

when you prone, and somebody stands right infront of you,
you can take him down by slashing the knife 2 times at his leg's/feet,

this is extremely unrealistic,
the best method to make it look realistic,

is to deminish about 5 demage points per hit on the leg/feet out of 100 demage points, so you can take the enemy down after 20 slashes or stabs with the knife,

because in real life real humans would lie down on the floor when theyre hit on theyre feet/leg 20 times,

2 reasons.

1. the pain
2. because you lose allot of blood,

but taking someone down with just 2 slashes on his leg/feet erea, is extremely unrealistic.

main arteries/viens lay in the legs, in fact, a swipe to any old artery there would cause death within 15 minutes if left untreated. a GOOD soldier would probably cut the arteries on both legs meaning about a 7 minute bleed out.

oh, and unconciousness in about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
a cut to the jugular is NOT the most fatal. the artery (can't remember what it's called) would cause death in less than 30 seconds (due to no blood to the brain)
also, due to FUBAR hitboxes, it is actually the back.

The external jugular vein is what you're looking for.

It sends most of the blood from your lower body to your face and several parts.

If cut, it would ensure death in less than a minute. It will also stop several functions in the spinal chord causing paralysis and innevitably death.

I aced a summer class of anatomy I took. B)

i agree...

heres my idea,

take a look at this picture:

now the red boxes, are the fatal hit erea's
you could take a enemy down by 1 slash or 1 stab,

the yellow boxes, are less fatal,
like i suggest in the previous post, when you hit someone in the yellow boxes erea, than the player your hitting will lose about 5 demage points out of 100 demage points,

now if you stab or slash the green boxes erea, nothing will happen,
you will only hear a "puk, puk."sound,

damn my english is bad,, i dont know how to phrase it,
but something like "puk" "puk"

this the most realistic method.
it will give more depth in the game, it increases the "sophistication factor"

im not so sure,
but i think a knife can penetrade a bullet proof vest,

if this is true,
than i suggest that you only can pentrade the bullet proof vest with a straight stab only,

and not slashing it, i think that sound very logical.

you're right about knives making it through kevlar.bullets have relatively low energy, because of thier low mass, but a knife can be forced through. I think that slashing is stopped to a point, but cutting motions are not kevlar's specialty.

I highlighted the text bold red and made it bigger from what Xeno said.

Give the dev's a break... They have enough problems under their belt right now and shouldn't have to worry about any ideas right now.

If you come up with an idea that just must be discussed here on the forum's, then do so by making a note of what is is and post it after the release of .49.

You'd be doing both me and the other devs and mods a favor.

technically, everyone should be addressing to 050, 049 is just being tweaked and debugged right now, its nolonger being made, just tweaking. for 050, we should concentrate more on adding more multiplayer gametypes and weapon systems and maps, less graphics details and eyecandy. When you make a game, you start with your plan, then the genre, then the theme. After that you make the plot or story, then the concept art. When thats all done you prepare the engine code and the game's source code. While that is being done the graphics will be made based on the concept art. When a build of the game is finished, beta test it for QA. Repeat the process until the game is complete. When it is, do the final QA then polish up the effects or eyecandy and easter eggs and publishing and advertisement. Then, after a public beta test, release it. That is how a game should be made, mostly in that order. TCE is still in beata 048, adding eyecandy isnt a necessary nor usefull thing at the moment. adn since we know it is just a beta, we shoundnt expect much from it.

also, due to FUBAR hitboxes, it is actually the back.

Most fatal knife kill I belive is stabbing in the back at about right next to the spinal cord, then twisting, kills the person instantly, or paralizes everything in there body so they die in a couple seconds, what your doing is splitting the vertebrate apart, causing the body to lose all control, and the person simply dies, or is therfore put into a coma for about a minute and dies ot the lack of blood making it to places around the body, mainly the brain, it isntantly paralizes you. Most common place to aim is about should height, or a little lower, gets a good spot so that if you do screw it up, sya not close enough tot eh spine, you hit those organs that are vital to you living.Or a simple way to kill someone, break there neck. :twisted:

It's essentially what this is, just this is a little fancier, and not as hard to do. Plus that loud CRACK is gone of his neck shattering.

(Kids, don't try this at home or anywhere else for that matter) Wouldn't want anyone splitting there jammies now would we.

Oh and to keep people from going "Well hows he supposed ot get behind him, uh huh?" Well simple, it's not intended for a frontal assault, no knife skill is intended for a frontal assault. It is intended for a kill that is silent and quick, so for those missions of secrecy and covert means. Killing someone without a bullet, or a sound. I actually see no point in kives in this game, all people think is it looks cool to do it, and it makes you look stupid when your chasing a guy in circles while he's shooting you.
