that doesnt bother me. i dont use sniper rifles in craped spaces, unless i want to get killed and just end up watching everyone else get killed. maybe rewrite a portion of the aa system to have a mapspecific set of weapons given to players. so, the smaller the maps, stronger adnn wider ranged weapons get distributed less and less.

yeah, i played in an ET sniper server before, and in ET you can just by scrolling adjust zioioming. It rules. Everytime i played tce and sniped i started scrolling and accidentaly grabbed grenades ;). I miss it actually. So i think its a great idea!

bad thing bout snipin in et was that for a one shot kill it had to hit the face, not neck, not helmet. good hitboxes lol

There's no such zoom in rl (gosh I hate to say that), the only zoom you got is to choose between, let's say 8x and 12x. And those things are pretty unpopular amongst the army, etc. because of the price, so unzoomed scopes are much more popular.

No, there are scopes with variable zoom. It would make you sway like hell if you adjusted it while looking through the scope, though. However, it would need new animations.

i just like the idea, it increases gameplay very much, and in 'rl' you do have them. so it doesnt bothers realism.

it seems, that alot of you people dont want scoped weapons. fine then..
1. remove the sniper rifles
2. remove the G36, because it will have a built in reticule sight
3. remove the AK74 modified assault rifle
4. remove the sopmod

you might as well give the *i-need-a-broader-vocab* terrorists a goddamn pimped out hummer, and the cops 10foot dicks and disposable grenades.

im not saying anything about the dev teams fine choice of weapons, but look at the deagle.. look at the fn minmi (we all wanna use it but some idiots JUST HAVE to say "no itd be unrealistic")
what im saying is:
devs, please dont listen to them, dont remove the scope.
skin that gun. code that bomb. load that map. just do your stuff and we're happy. for those people who dont like scopes use a *i-need-a-broader-vocab* SHOTGUN then.

btw the pic of the minmi on the mainsite has a really ugly box mag.
AND DONT TALK ABOUT REMOVING THE SCOPE

There's a difference between a red dot sight with ZERO zoom that blocks a good portion of the screen mounted on an assault rifle, and a 6X scope on a rifle that shouldn't be there in the first place and that merely serves to cheapen gameplay.

It's not scopes that I have a problem with, it's sniper rifles with or without scopes.

Have you looked at updates? The version of the G36 the devs are implementing has iron sights.

And, um, aren't all grenades disposable?

The Minimi the devs have chosen to model is belt fed. The thing under it is not a box magazine. An M16 magazine is an example of a box magazine, and interestingly enough, the Minimi can accept those too.

lol you mistake me. i meant that the picture of the gun itself looked unfinished, look at the box mag: http://tc.hanfacker.ch/pics/news/Minimi_01.jpg i meant it wasnt fully skinned yet.
and btw yup the minmi accepts stanag mags, it even switches to rifle standard 750 rpms instead of the usual 1000rpm in the flick of a switch. so if your comrades in arms die, and you're low on bo mags, you know what to do :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
btw i was playin aa a few months ago and the virtual instructor dude for the mout weapons thing where you get to throw nades and fire teh mg. he said it was magazine fed, (cos the belt is still in a mag), so i THINK maybe the m16mags should just be called "rifle mags". if you've been in the army then sorry my mistake :P but!!! ive also been in the chinese military for a while so BLEUGHH let hoak explain this!! :roll: :roll: :roll:

yeah, dont remove the sniper rifles, just make bigger maps for use with the sniper rifles. earlier this morning, people were actuallr smoking me, even from my own team, coz i keep getting lots of kills with a PSG. and that was in an almost cqc map, dem_seige? for the sopmod, its not really a scope in tce, thats more like an m68aimpoint (no magnification, image enhancement, and tritium lamp backlighting [not so sure about this this lamp, but its all in weapons websites, including AAO]) best thing is, just add the refocus feature, that way, those giant knows beside the scope would have uses (im not talking about the tightening/fastening knobs)

another interesting thing, on really cold maps, there should be fogging on the lens as the sniper breathes.

I'm a game programmer and coding the scope isn't that hard.
The coding for VB is:

if rightclick() =1
fov = scopemin/scopemax
hide object, cross-aim
show object, scope-aim
inc scopemin
Blur object texture, scope-aim
if scopemin => scopemax then scopemin = scopemax
else
scopemin= 3.14
clear object texture, scope-aim
show object, cross-aim
hide object, scope-aim
endif

That does your scope zoom with mouseclick and your scope bluring when you zoom. The scopemin and scopemax are applied to each weapon at their own integers so they are different in the command text. The code would have to be in the main program loop.

the idea was that:

since after each shot of the rifle, it is expected that the optics would have been shaken off focus. This woul force a sniper to stop for a moment (at random amounts of time and probable amount of refocusing) and refocus his scope before resuming the shooting.

doing this will slow down snipers giving other players a chance to move out of the way. and in doing so slowing down the sniper that doesnt hit his mark.

the ideal controls are.. scrool up/down and look for a randomly placed focus mapped lens in a bundle of unfocused lens (they dont really exist, its just a simple method we thought of)

It's a good idea for it would be more realistic... I've shot several types of sniper rifles including the PSG-1. It takes a fairly skilled sniper maybe a few seconds to refocus his vision on the threat...

This could also bring controlled breathing for more accurate shots into perspective.

the devs should stop the swinging when you're aiming with the sniper,
its dumb

when im sniping, and i see some enemy, suddenly the swinging increases, and my heart starting to beat more and more faster..

yeah right :roll:,, like the system can read my mind and emotions what i feel at that moment,

i mean... a sniper just cant be that nervice in situations like that
a sniper is trained to be cool in evry situations, and if you cant stay cool in difficullt situations, than you just dont have the talents to be a sniper,

my dad owns A sniper...
and i never swing that much when im using a sniper in real life,
compared to the swingin with the sniper in TCE.
i can control my sniper, i can hold the sniper still and balanced
for 5 minuts,
with out moving any single muscle.

so i suggest the devs remove the swinging,
