i apologize if this has come up elsewhere

why is it that the other character models i see seem to be going in slow motion?

Some people are reporting funky lag issues with 2.60.
Most recently here : http://truecombat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2235
I've still not seen this issue.
My only thought is that it may be related to unoptomized .48 code.

I don't see this at all with the .49 beta code, lets hope it's "fixed" with the optomized code for 2.60

What puzzles me about it, is that several of the people reporting it are not q3 or ET noobs.
They know how to adjust Rate, Snaps and the like.

The 3rd person animations give other players a skiing looking effect that is extremely noticable....

hope that helps

Well the next version of TCE will offer to-scale movement speed and we all try hard to get all maps to to-scale mapping. It might be that we have no chance in comparison to professional companies with 10 times the man power and real money behind. Guyz it is your choice. Be asured that I consider all previous versions of TC(E) as a joke when int comes to scale and speed. And take a look at, e.g., Liquids new map shots if available somewhere. Its getting there. True combat. Finally.

Yes, coroner's new speeds are much more realistic. I also used to hear a lot about scale, but didn't really notice it until I went into 3rd person and walked up to a crate that was almost to my shoulders. Coroner is working hard with the rest of the team to have a unified scale system so there isn't Alice-in-Wonderlandism.

I agree the speeds in the current internal test release IS much more realistic, but this has some drawbacks that need looked at I think.

1st) strafing while walking is insanly slow, it feels AND looks wrong. It's virtually slowmotion.

2nd) missions times really need looked at I think. I'm having a hard time beleiving that 5 minutes is going to be enough on larger maps (depending on the objective). Of course increasing mission times has it's own problems, mostly people being stuck in spec mode for extended periods, something I think the majority of players don't like.

There has to be some sort of map size vs. player speed vs. mission time solution that I've yet to see.

I'm concerned that not enough effort is going to be applied to map testing for timing.

the map geometry will hopefully be scaled down (through the editor, not the compiler), to fit the decreased movement speeds, the game should remain as slow or as fast as it is atm. future maps will adapt to the player speed either way. i wouldn't worry about fastness in terms of gameplay, because it's just another variable that needs looking at.

There will be no personal attacks or name calling in here. No exceptions. The last few posts are being edited and will be back up later.

cos of the fact that wolfenstein et is a much faster game, the foot movements had to be synced to make it look like the players were always running. tce on the other hand, is a much slower game, and i dont think the game developers have synced that yet. maybe coroner is working on it, or else i am outdated.
