this suggestion is for the P.R.'s ok heres the deal, there can be as many 3rd party mappers participating this competition, no matter how many amount of third party mappers, all the 3rd party mappers have to show their 3rd party maps, there will be 5 best 3rd party maps selected from all the participants, the 5 best maps should be selected by the community with a reliable voting system. so the 5 best 3rd party maps have to compete against each other, there can only be 2 3rd party maps selected from the 5 best 3rd party maps, and there will only be 1 that will judge wich 2 of the 5 maps should be competing against each other on the next round, and that judge will be me<--- yes me "Dragonathan", cause im the one that came up with this idea, and i know if a map is perfect or not, if the 2 maps are selected by me, than the 2 maps will be hand over to the devs, devs have to decide whos the final winner, reason why the devs should choose the winner is because the 3rd party mapper that won the competition will have his 3rd party map labled as an official map, but... only after the devs have revamped and adjusted winner's 3rd party map, so the devs have to decide whos the winner because they are the one's that can see if a map has potential or not. this will improve the relation between community and the devs, this competition should be orgenised once a year, so all the participants will have allot of time to pimp-up their maps and make it look like pro. and trust me it must be once in a year because if it was once evry 1 or 2 month it would be a total chaos, you cant have a proper organisation running in a short period of time, it takes allot of preperation. not only will this improve the relation between community and devs, it will also expand TC:E's map library, and you can also see it as a talent scout. |

Why don't give PR advice to the Bush administration, they need it more than the TC:E devs do. |

tc:J already had a mapmaking competition, it went well, and I think something along these lines is a good idea. "that judge will be me<--- yes me "Dragonathan", cause im the one that came up with this idea, and i know if a map is perfect or not" Nope. |

if they do run another map competition, it should be the public/Dev team deciding. one person has bias, no matter who, a large group of people has very little. |

The second I read that I started laughing. 15 mins later I got over it, and managed to read the rest of the post. The idea isn't a bad one, I like it, and think it'd be pretty intresting to see how many entrys there are. But, Dragonathan being the big bad judge? *Chzzzck* Negative! *Chzzzck* |

there needs to be a feature that allows people to vote without even trying out the map, because i dont think its practical to try out all the maps if there are more than 20 participants, what i suggest is videos of the all the 3rd party maps that shows all angles ect. ect. people can watch the video, and vote if they think it looks appealing anough to play on or not, yes i wanna be the judge of the last 5 finalist's, ![]() |

yess. but only the last 5 should be tested. imagine 30 people paritipating the contest, than you will have to try out all the 30 maps, and thats allot of work, so a video of a map is sufficient enough to estimate how good a map looks, you know that saying "A picture paints a thousand words", than i think a video is sufficient enough, the 3rd party mappers should make their map look representative on the video, |

okay, now we'll go on to make games, but we'll not play them before we decide which to ship. okay, we'll make a map that looks excellent in the screens, however, it runs at 5 FPS, and boosts pings by ~300 ms. but we'll skip the one with the ameture SS, but miss out on an exploit-free, fun to play map. oh, then we'll make a sandwich by only looking at the meat to see if it's good. then look at the titles of a few books and pick them based on that. and then we'll get a few songs with excellent titles, and skip the ones that have ones that don't relate to them ("bohemean rhapsodhy"? come on! what does that mean?this sure as hell doesn't deserve months at #1 on the charts) then we'll call the alphabet of manliness a pile of crap because it has a man wresting a gorilla on the cover.[/sarcasm] you're showing the signs of a person biased in every way. TC:E supports 3rd party development. anything (minus cheats) is welcome. TBH, this thread makes me think that your account was created for comic relief. |

oh and another thing i forgot to mention... oke you can try out all the 3rd party maps if you want and vote wich one you want, thats fine... but keep in mind that there will be allot of people voting with out even trying out the maps, so in that case, make those people at least know how the map looks like before they even vote, so thats why i think a video for each map is the best option. |
