Exactly. I think it's more like 2 different ways of gaming that both have a place in my life. The reason why I prefer the PC over consoles is just that I more often happen to play alone or with my buddies quite far away via the internet. The typical "now a console game would be great" situation just doesn't happen that often.
One more aspect is that I play games (if I don't play them with beer & buddies - I will refer to that as b&b from now on

) for immersion, for feeling like I actually was part of that virtual world. My fun increases with the ammount of interactivity, density of the atmosphere and the feeling of "seeing the virtual environment through the eyes of my avatar".
This has - for me - a lot to do with perspective and the absence of visual distraction, which works better on the PC. But I see that consoles have their advantages, too.
