Im not sure if this has been brought up before (I did a search) but the Quake 3 Engine is now open source released under the GPL licencing agreement.
I think it would be an idea to move True Combat from a mod of Enemy Territory out into a game itself, so there is no longer a reliance on users needing Enemy Territory, you can effectively fix up the issues that plague us (the .pk3 wars for example

) and still be rewarded by offering a free first person shooter to rival Counter Strike!
Just an idea, the decision is completely up to you.
(Note: Even though id's site does not show that the source has been released under GPL, it has. id just hasn't updated their site yet.

The source code to the Quake III engine was previously supposed to have been released around the end of 2004, which would be consistent with an apparent policy of releasing all the 3d engines under the GPL when they are over 5 years old. However, John Carmack announced that the GPL release had been put on hold in order to maintain a grace period, since the Quake III engine was still being licensed to commercial customers who would otherwise become upset over the sudden loss in value of their recent investment. The Quake III source code was released under the GPL on August 19, 2005.
